The California Grand Casino is a card room located in Pacheco, California. The original hotel and card room used to be a Pony Express stop in the 1860s. The California Grand Casino is the oldest poker room in the world with poker games since 1854, according to Card Player Magazine.
The casino is open 24 hours a day, all year round, providing fast-paced card-playing action to customers. Poker games are considered to be the most action packed in the Bay Area. Staff are friendly and well trained, and our poker staff are considered to be the best in Northern California.
The California Grand Casino offers Texas Hold'em poker games, Omaha poker, and a weekly Hold Em tournament. All poker games have three blinds, which means that the player on the button will also make a blind bet. This will lead to more players seeing the flop and to more action in the games. The Casino has a number of poker jackpots and prizes worth more than $23 million in jackpots paid out to players.
Also included are Blackjack, Baccarat, Three Card Poker, and Pai Gow Poker. In California, the casino doesn't have bank games, so these games are played with a rotating dealer position, so every player has a chance to play the dealer's hand and bet against the other players, but the casino dealer still does the deal and settles all the bets.
It all started with the opening of the Woodford Hotel and Saloon to offer alcohol and gambling. The hotel became a stage coach and the Wells Fargo Pony Express Stop, attracting more people to the action. As the Gold Rush Days call started to fade, the hotel was renamed the Pacheco Inn. Lamar "Wil" Wilkinson bought and improved the property in 1979, then changed the name to California Grand Casino.
A new casino facility was opened across the street in July 2009 featuring 19 gaming tables, a bar and a restaurant called The Grand Cafe. The California Grand Casino has been voted Best Casino in San Francisco East Bay for six years in a row by Bay Area News Group , which includes Contra Costa Times, San Jose Mercury News and Oakland Tribune.
